What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are used to fill in or plump out lines and wrinkles caused by the aging process. These lines can be caused by environmental damage, sun damage, or simply as a result of the way we use our facial muscles.

How does it work?

This treatment involves the injection of hyaluronic acid (a substance that occurs naturally in healthy skin), directly into the wrinkle contour. Hyaluronic acid is completely broken down within the skin over a period of months, eventually leaving no trace of the filler. The HA based fillers are completely biocompatible with the hyaluronic acid which is already present in the body. As hyaluronic acid gradually degrades, each molecule binds to more water, and over time, the same volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid.

We use not only HA based dermal fillers. Remake is also resorbable facial filler, it is made of polyethylene glycol. Remake meets all necessary safety criteria in regards to biocompatibility, absence of toxicity, non-mutagenicity, non-absorbability, non-migration and degradation. One comparative study of Remake and a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler demonstrated that by the third month degradation of hyaluronic acid was twice as fast as degradation of Remake.

Remake®: is not made of hyaluronic acid, but resorbable facial filler. Manufactured by Scientech Corporation (Italy), Remake is a hydrogel composed of 4% polyethylene glycol di-acrylate and 96% apyrogenous water. The gel is obtained by polymerization of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and the di-acrylate serves as a cross-linking agent to slow down degradation. Remake meets all necessary safety criteria in regards to biocompatibility, absence of toxicity, non-mutagenicity, non-absorbability, non-migration and degradation.

Teosyal®: The Teosyal® range, manufactured in Switzerland by Teoxane Laboratories, consists of several monophasic hyaluronic acid based products of non-animal origin, which are highly biocompatible, offering patients immediate and long-lasting results.

What results are expected?

You will see immediate results – smoother, softer, more youthful skin – and in many cases the line is literally erased. A local anesthetic is used to numb the area, and some redness may be experienced for a short period following the treatment. Results will last for about 6 months, with repeat treatments offering longer lasting results.
