This makes diagnosis easier and increases the chance of revealing a malignant melanoma at an early stage. This non-invasive method is not only painless, but allows the patient to follow the examination on a screen. If noticed at an early stage melanoma can be treated successfully and can be surgically removed. The sooner the doctors notice the melanoma, the better the chances are for successful therapy, and a less serious surgical operation is required to remove it. Melanoma develops around existing papillomas or on seemingly healthy skin. Pigmented lesions developing in the form of papillomas, existing papillomas (birthmarks), or old age pigmentation can be found on every person on every area of the body.
