The hair on our body can be embarrassing for aesthetic reasons or when doing sports activities. Women find extensive hair growth especially embarrassing. Extensive hair growth has two types: hypertrichosis and hirsutism. Hypertrichosis means enhanced hair growth on the entire body; hirsutism means enhanced hair growth on those areas of your body that are otherwise typical of men (moustache and beard, chest, below the navel).
Temporary hair removal: Plucking: We can remove unwanted hairs by using tweezers. This method is suitable for those who only have one or two stronger hairs on the moustache or beard area. After 2-3 weeks the hairs grow back again. Shaving: It cuts the hairs above the surface of the skin and then after a few days they are again visible and can be felt. This method is fast and painless, but as a common side effect is that the hair does not spring to the surface through the hair follicle but stays below the surface of the skin and causes inflammation. Contrary to popular belief, there is still no proof that shaving makes hair grow back thicker. Permanent hair removal: Laser: There are various machines operating with different wavelengths. The wavelength of the laser is adjusted so that the hair follicle can absorb more energy than the surrounding skin. The proper amount of energy burns out the hair follicle. If the laser also burns the pigments of the skin as well, white spots may appear around the hairs. IPL-technology: This method was developed to go beyond the limitations of laser technology. It is the most effective permanent hair removal method today! Fewer treatments are needed to achieve the desired results than with laser technology. With one pulse, laser treats a significantly smaller area (max. 1.44 cm²), while IPL-machines treat 6.4 cm². The wavelength of the light cannot be changed with lasers, which means that its parameters cannot be adjusted to the skin type and hair colour, but with pulsed light treatments this can be achieved. |
